Lafayette General Medical Center, Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency(LOPA), and Southern Eye Bank are recognizing those who have donated organs with a special brick placed at LGMC.
“I hope tonight provides some sense of comfort and a little bit of solace hearing your loved one’s name.” said Libby Harrison of LOPA
The heroes who donated their organs will always be remembered at lafayette general’s La Place De Vie.
“Honor and remember those who donated life and sight and remember those we lost in 2017.”
For Donna Thomassie, it was because of an organ donor that she regained her eyesight.
“I’m so grateful to let you know that last week i went to get my driver’s license renewed and I can see and I can drive. I can work. The reason for this is because some of you have been so gracious to have family members who are donors.”
Thomassie encourage everyone to become a donor.
“It may not be a whole lot to some people but to have the gift of sight is big for me.” said Thomassie.
If you interested seeing the names of everyone that was honored at this ceremony, they are at right next to main entrance of LGMC.
