UPDATE: 1 Injured in Shooting on Jefferson Blvd, Suspect Found Dead With Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound

UPDATE:  The Lafayette Police responded to shots fired at a residence in the 500 block of Jefferson Boulevard at approximately 12:07 pm . A 32-year-old male victim advised he was shot by his ex-boyfriend. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and has since been released. Officers were notified that the suspect was still inside the residence. The Lafayette Police SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiator Team responded to the location and negotiations for the suspects surrender began. After several hours of negotiations with no response, the SWAT Team made entry inside the residence and located 64 year old Malcolm J. Hymel of Lafayette suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.

 

 

Lafayette Police Department is investigating a shooting near Jefferson Boulevard.According to Cpl. Bridgette Dugas one person was injured in the shooting. The incident happened in the 600 block of Jefferson Blvd.

The victim has been transported to a local hospital.

According to Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, authorities are currently in negotiations with the shooting suspect, who was last seen entering his residence. Reporter Cassie Schirm is on scene and confirmed with authorities the victim received non-life-threatening injuries.
