Baton Rouge, LA (KADN) — The LSU Tigers counting down to the season opener against Indiana on February 14th. That’s less than ten days away. Even though they are only facing themselves at this point in the season, it can be tough to stay motivated. However, Mainieri said his team has had some quality practices this preseason. He’s not concerned about any specific aspect of his team for opening day. It’s just a tough day regardless.
“I don’t have any concerns necessarily, I just am always glad when the first game is over with,” Mainieri said. It’s the game when you have the most pressure you feel all year. I’ve been fortunate enough to coach games in Omaha but never more nervous than opening day of the season. It’s the first time you’ve played against a team in another uniform since last June. Win or lose you know there are 55 games after that”
The LSU Tigers have not lost their last 18 season openers. Last year LSU beat ULM 12-7.
