Mardi Gras Information and Safety Tips

LAFAYETTE, LA -As the good times continue to roll through out Mardi Gras season, law enforcement reminds that the public that safety is an essential part of parade season.

“If you need us, there’s always an officer right around the corner,” says Cpl. Bridgette Dugas. “We utilize every officer. If they’re not patrolling then they are on the parade routes.”

Each year, Mardi Gras draws large crowds across Acadiana. Law Enforcement reminds the public of the following safety tips:

  • Be aware of your surroundings at a parade.
  • Do not enter barricaded areas during parades.
  • Notice who and what is around you.
  • Be aware of surroundings.
  • Avoid bringing animals.
  • No riding bikes, roller-skating on the parade route.
  • LOST or FOUND CHILDREN – can be brought to any officer along the parade route or to one of the command post.
