VERMILION PARISH – A Maurice woman is in custody after shooting her husband following an altercation.
Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office public information officer, Drew David, at approximately on January 19, 2020 at approximately 4:40 p.m. deputies responded to a possible shooting complaint at 1744 Roper Road in Maurice La.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies made contact with the victim, and the subject who made the initial call. It was noticed that the victim had a single gunshot wound to his back. The victim was then transported to the hospital via Ambulance service while deputies began to question the witness.
After further investigation it was found that the witness and the victim were working on a truck when the witness heard a loud pop sound. He ran around the truck to see Pamela Richard standing with a handgun, and her husband laying on the ground. At this time Mrs. Richard ran back into the residence with the weapon.
Deputies established a perimeter at this time and were able to get Mrs. Richard to surrender without incident. Upon advising Mrs. Richard of her Miranda Rights, she indicated her willingness to speak to deputies. It was found that verbal altercations allegedly happened between Mrs. Richard and her husband. Mrs. Richard went into the house, returned with a handgun, and shot her husband.
Mrs. Richard was taken into custody and is being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.
Her husband is being treated for non life threatening injuries related to this incident.
