Mosquito control experts are reminding residents, now is the perfect storm for the stinging, disease-carrying critters.
Standing water and fallen soggy vegetation are an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes, which can carry West-Nile virus and other diseases.
“They are not picky with who they feed on. Some places that are closer to our sugarcane fields, rice fields, those are definitely some of our bigger, heavy hitter areas. But there are a lot of folks in Lafayette that are close to coulees, there are some breeding sources right in their back yard,” says COO of Mosquito Joe.
If there are standing water sources anywhere near your home it’s recommended that you drain that water.
