NEW IBERIA – New Iberia police has obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect in a deadly weekend shooting on first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder charges.
Officials say, 33-year-old, Dominic Lamar George shot two people near the intersection of South Corine and Lombard Streets early Sunday morning. One of the victims died at the scene. The second victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
George is also facing home invasion and theft charges over $750.00 that are unrelated to the shooting charges.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. the New Iberia Police Department received reports of shots fired at the intersection of S. Corine St. and Lombard St. Upon officer’s arrival one victim was found lying on the pavement.
This victim was pronounced deceased by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office.
A second shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
