According to the New Iberia Coroners Office, the decedent involved in the Tuesday night shooting near the 600 block of St. peter St. in New Iberia has been identified as 31y/o Fabeka Hayes. All other info is pending investigation.

UPDATE: The New Iberia Police Department have arrested and located the man in connection to overnight shooting.

According to police, officers arrested 52-year-old, Clarence Joseph Payton this morning for the shooting death of woman who was found dead in Churches Fired Chicken parking lot in the 600 block of W. St. Peter St.

Payton was book in the Iberia Parish Jail on a warrant for one count of 1st degree murder.


NEW IBERIA – – The New Iberia Police department is investigating an overnight shooting that left one woman dead.

Police say, officers were notified of a shooting around 10:15 p.m. last night at a business located in the 600 block of W. St. Peter St. in New Iberia.

Upon arrival officers found a female victim with a single gunshot wound lying on the floor. Iberia Parish corner was notified and upon arrival pronounced the victim deceased.

The New Iberia Police Department is working this incident as a domestic related shooting.
