SHREVEPORT, LA – (KTAL) UPDATE:
The boyfriend of Shreveport Police Officer Chatéri Payne is behind bars charged with her murder.
During a news conference Wednesday morning Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond said Treveon Anderson has been charged with Second Degree Murder in Payne’s death.
Lawrence Pierre and Glenn Frierson, who are believed to be accomplices, also were arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.
Chief Raymond said Anderson, who is also the father of Payne’s young child, was questioned following the shooting outside of their home.
Anderson told detectives that someone else shot Payne and he called 911 to report the shooting. Anderson was released after questioning.
Investigators later gathered enough evidence to link Anderson to Payne’s murder.
Raymond said, “We believe Anderson shot and killed Officer Payne and concocted the narrative of her being killed by unknown suspect.”
Raymond added, “Three evil cowards are off the streets so they can’t hurt anyone else.”
Anderson is listed as “Offender was involved in a shooting were he admiited to the role he played arrested for 2nd degree murder.”
Frierson is listed as “Offender confessed to being involved in a shooting arrested for 2nd degree murder.”
Pierre is listed as “Offender to being present at time of a shooting arrested for 2nd degree murder and possession…”
Raymond said the child was present inside the home but he is not positive if the child witnessed the shooting.
The weapon, a .40 caliber handgun, used in Payne’s murder has also been recovered.
