According to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, “On August 16, 2019, St. Landry Parish deputies were conducting proactive patrols due to recent armed robberies in the Evangeline Subdivision which led to the arrest of Thaddeus Shakesneider.”
Deputies observed a large crowd arguing with occupants inside of a vehicle parked in the middle of Emerald Drive. When deputies approached the vehicle, they were able to detain the driver and identify him as Shakesneider while two other occupants fled from the vehicle.
Deputies also located an AK-47 mini style pistol also known as “Draco” on the floorboard of the vehicle. Thaddeus Shakesneider was subsequently arrested. One of the subjects who fled the vehicle was later identified as Patrick Chambers who deputies were informed had outstanding warrants on him. Additional weapon charges are expected after the investigation is complete.
Sheriff Guidroz stated, “These patrols are a direct response to the increase in assault type weapons being carried and used by individuals. I am thankful for the commitment of my deputies and for their service to the citizens of St. Landry Parish.”
If you know the whereabouts of Patrick Chambers you are urged to call St. Landry Crime Stoppers at 337-948-(TIPS) 8477. All calls are anonymous and you could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to his arrest.
On behalf of Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, this is Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
