OPD Chief: Suspect in Fatal Hit And Run That Killed An Opelousas Teen Is In Custody

The suspect in the fatal hit and run crash in Opelousas that took the life of a 16 year old last night at Church and Main Street is in custody.

Opelousas Police Chief Martin McClendon says around 10:50pm, Floydiece Washington, ran a red light crashed into a vehicle killing Princess Washington.

Washington’s brother was driving the vehicle and he got moderate injuries.

After the crash, Floydiece who has no relation to the other Washington’s, allegedly got out of her vehicle and fled the scene in a different car.

According to Chief McClendon, she was captured in Lake Charles and she will extradited to Opelousas on Monday.

The St. Landry Parish School Board says she was a Sophomore at Opelousas High School.
