OPD: Opelousas Man Arrested for Armed Robbery, Illegal Possession of Firearm

OPELOUSAS – Opelousas Police arrest a man for armed robbery Sunday evening, accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint for $700.00 in cash.

Officials say, the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on April 5 in 1600 block of Pujo Street.

According to Opelousas police, Frederick Bias Jr. was arrested after an investigation into the armed robbery.

With a description and possible location of the suspect, police say they made contact with Bias at a residence on Colorado Street. The victim allegedly described the suspect as having a tattoo in the center of his forehead which matched Bias.

He was detained and later positively identified by the victim, according to police.

Police say a search of Bias and the residence allegedly uncovered a firearm, the victim’s $700, marijuana, evidence of illegal narcotics and other indications of illegal weapons. Bias is also a convicted felon.

He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following charges:

  • Armed robbery
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Possession of schedule i drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
