Opelousas Police Department stopped a vehicle near the intersection of W. Grolee St. and Bullard St. in reference to suspected illegal window tint at around 5:00 p.m. After further investigation the officer located a stolen 40. Cal Smith & Wesson pistol that was reported to stolen to the Houston Police Department . The officer also located approximately 20 grams of marijuana and other drug related paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle Mr. Brandon Elair was subsequently booked at the St. Landry for the following:

- Illegal window tint
- Possession with intent to distribute schedule I narcotics (marijuana)
- Illegal Possession of a stolen firearm
- Illegal Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Illegal Possession of drug paraphernalia
It was not determined as to how Mr. Elair came to be in possession of the stolen firearm from Houston, Tx. but that will be investigated further by investigators. The related paraphernalia located in Mr. Elair’s possession indicated that he may have been involved in a distribution operation.
