(Opelousas, LA) – The Spring Music & Market closes out Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Farmers Market Pavilion in Opelousas with musical artist Jeremy Fruge & the Zydeco Hotboyz. The featured item is kale.
Jeremy Fruge began his zydeco career at the age of twelve. A nephew of the late great John Delafosse, zydeco has been in his life since the tender age of three years old. Not only does Jeremy play the accordion, but also the bass, drums, rub board, and trumpet.
Inspired by other great zydeco artists such as Keith Frank, J Paul Jr., Chris Ardoin, Geno Delafose, Jo Jo Reed and more, Jeremy decided to take his zydeco dreams to the next level and form his own band, Jeremy and the Zydeco Hotboyz in 1997. The band went on to record five hit CD’s and play at numerous clubs and festivals including French Quarter Festival, The Crosby Zydeco Festival and Baytown Zydeco Festival. Jeremy has also toured all over the world with numerous Zydeco legends such as Keith Frank, Amanda Shaw, Chubby Carrier and more.
In 2007, The Hotboyz released Cold Hearted with the smash hit Jody. The latest released album for the Hot Boys is Country Boy Lovin. The new album combines traditional Zydeco, Hip Hop, R&B, and his own personal style.
Music & Market takes place from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., with music beginning at 6:00 p.m. For more information, call 337-948-6263 or visit www.cityofopelousas.com.
