Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, On March 12th, 2018, The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 138 Boudreaux Road Opelousas, in reference to a rape complaint. The complainant identified as Melissa Ann Credeur told detectives that she was raped by her Uncle John Ray Gautreaux while she was sleeping, but it was later discovered that she lied about the man being her uncle.
Credeur told detectives that Gautreaux fell asleep on top of her and she was trying to wake him up but he was not breathing. Credeur said she was able to get him off of her and she started beating him.
Deputies entered the residence and located John R. Gautreaux’s body in a fetal position with bruising on his upper body. Detectives continued to process the scene and discovered key evidence discrediting Credeur’s statement.
Credeur was then transported to a local hospital for medical testing for rape. After the conclusion, the tests showed that a rape did not occur. Credeur was advised of her Miranda Rights and gave an admission that she bludgeoned Gautreaux to death with a metal electric fan, a flashlight, pencils, a paint brush, and her fist. Credeur advised she became very agitated due to Gautreaux constant chattering which lead to her brutally attacking him. Credeur said after Johnny became unresponsive she exited the residence and contacted 911 emergency services. Cedeur was then transported to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office for processing. She is charged with 2nd degree murder with a bond set at $150,000.
