It’s Pet Tuesday and this week News 15’s Megan Woods spent some time with Iberia Parish Animal Shelter to meet Oakley and Cuddles.
Oakley is a 10 month-old dog who came to the Iberia Parish Animal Shelter as an owner surrender.
Sonia Tauzin, the shelter’s manager says, “She’s been really good here at the shelter, very kind very sweet, gets along with all the dogs and I’m pretty sure she gets along with cats too.”
The shelter wants her to find a home that will give her a lot of attention, but that’s taking longer than planned.
Tauzin says, “Well in my personal experience she’s just a basic red dog. There’s nothing spectacular about her looks dogs like this often get passed by just because their color. It’s not a good thing for her because she’s a really good dog.”
That’s why the shelter recommends you visit the pets in person.
“It’s really difficult to get a good judge of animal from a picture. One still picture, that doesn’t even capture her size. I think her picture makes her look really big so I think it’s so much better to come in,” says Tauzin.
When you stop by don’t forget to check cats like Cuddles who was brought to the shelter in a trap.
Tauzin says, “Apparently she had an owner prior to that that has to be missing her but no one has come to look for her so we’re trying to find her a new home. She’s extremely talkative, very talkative sometimes it sounds like there’s a child in the shelter because she’s talking.”
Tauzin also mentions that Cuddles will be fit in at just about any home. “She’s about four years old she would be spayed and up to date and everything would be done to find her new home.”
