Lafayette, LA (KADN) Cold temperatures canceled practice on Tuesday, but the Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team still continues preparations for the season opener against Texas on February 15th. Last season the offense struggled batting just .242, which was second to last in the Sun Belt conference. Head coach Tony Robichaux is entering his 25th season as Ragin’ Cajuns baseball coach. He believes this season’s success hinges on his young pitching developing. However, they need help from the team’s veteran hitters.
“I think we have learned a lot of things from last year,” Robichaux said. “The big key is not to live in last year. That was last year’s team. That’s not this year’s team. Every year its a different team. they all have to reach their potential as a team. This team can be different from last year. that’s the big thing. I think this team has grown and learned from that.”
To help the young pitchers, staff ace Gunner Leger returns from arm and leg surgery. He missed all of last season.
