It’s going to be another warm and humid day across Acadiana. Temperatures will warm quickly through the afternoon, reaching the mid 80s this afternoon. With a warm, southerly flow, showers will be possible throughout the day with a rumble of thunder possible. The muggy air sticks around through the overnight hours as temperatures will hold in the 70s. Clouds will continue to fill the sky.
Today: A few passing showers. Warm and breezy. High: 84°
Tonight: Cloudy and muggy. Low: 70°
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy and very warm. A stray shower is possible. High: 86°
High pressure continues to build in the upper levels of the atmosphere and will dry out the atmosphere Wednesday. This will allow temperatures to climb into the upper 80s to near 90 north of the interstate, and mid-to-upper 80s south of I-10. A stray shower can’t be ruled out, but rain chances will be very slim. By Thursday, a weak front makes its way into Acadiana and we’ll see an increase in rain chances. Thunderstorms will be likely in the afternoon along the front before it settles along the coast. This will keep rain chances around Friday. A better rain chance comes over the weekend as a strong dip in the jetstream adds a lot of energy to the atmosphere. Timing is still being sorted out with some models bringing the worst of the weather Saturday evening and others Sunday around Noon. For now, rain chances will be around starting Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday. Right now, it’s still too early to say if we could be tracking some severe storms, but we will keep you updated on that.
