Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly advised his patrol and detectives division are investigating a shooting that occurred on Friday October 11, 2019. Shortly after the Rayne High/ Eunice football game ended at Rayne High School, shots were reported fired at 9:41 PM on Stadium Drive away from the stadium and not on school property. Officers working security at the game responded and discovered several vehicles that were struck with bullets.
Officers then received a call that a gunshot victim at Acadia General in Crowley and detectives responded to the hospital and it was learned that he was shot on the corner of Lyman Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive. Detectives are interviewing several witness and suspects and they believe the two incidents are connected. The investigation is continuing at this time.
