Record breaking cold started off our morning today. Temperatures dipped into the mid 20s in many locations. Both Lafayette and New Iberia broke records. The old record for Lafayette was 27° with the low falling to 26° while New Iberia dipped to 28°, breaking the old record of 32°. Sunshine will help temperatures warm up into the low 50s before clouds move in later today ahead of our next system. Cloud cover will stop temperatures from falling too much overnight, with lows right around 40°.

Showers will start forming early Thursday morning. It will be cold and dreary throughout the afternoon hours. A dip in the jetstream will push across Acadiana and form an area of low pressure in the Gulf. behind it, strong northerly winds will keep things cool and bring temperatures back into the 30s Thursday night. Warmer afternoons return heading into the weekend. Lows will be near freezing Saturday morning with a light freeze possible inland. Highs Saturday and Sunday will finally climb above 60. Another upper level dip moves through Acadiana next Monday. Behind it, cool air sticks around and morning lows will be in the lower 40s. A few showers will be possible Monday in the afternoon.
