The American Red Cross volunteer services team held a free volunteer informational session this evening at the South Regional Library. Attendees learned what it takes to be a volunteer including required training, current opportunities, and how volunteers provide assistance during disasters and everyday operations.
Red Cross Volunteer Sherlyn Vaughn says there are many different volunteer opportunities.
“So we just need volunteers. There’s just a lot of opportunities. Like she said; clerical, disaster, mental health. It’s something as simple as if you like to sit in a chair and talk to people or you’d like to drive an emergency response vehicle and bring out food and clean up kits.”
