LAFAYETTE – With just one week left until their doors open to the public, Rock ‘N’ Bowl in Downtown Lafayette is looking to become the premier spot for socializing, family fun, live music, and, oh yeah, a little bowling too.
“Wouldn’t it be better to throw a party in a place where you can actually do something,” asks Johnny Blancher, the owner of Rock ‘N’ Bowl de Lafayette, “And look, everybody loves to bowl. Not everybody is good at bowling. So they’re welcome at rock n bowl because we put the ‘rock’ before the bowl’ because we like the ‘rock’ a little better, ya know?”
The restaurant/bowling alley/party palace promises to be one of the most unique experiences in Acadiana.
Even Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux is having trouble containing his excitement for the new venue.
“Everything from the restaurant to the actual bowling lanes to the stage, the dance floor, the banquet hall, the suites. It’s gonna be quite an experience. Lafayette has nothing like this,” a giddy Joel Robideaux explains.
Rock ‘N’ Bowl has the potential to be an overnight success in the Hub City.
The real challenge: Continuing the success year in and year out.
“We want to be here a long time,” says Blancher, “We don’t want to be a flash in the pan and we’re not going to approach it that way. We’re gonna certainly shoot to be generational.”
There’s a little something for everyone at Rock ‘N’ Bowl, and Johnny Blancher has one more promise for those most excited to test out the newest lanes in Lafayette.
“The first person to bowl a 300 here will be significantly compensated,” a laughing Blancher proclaims.
The venue is expected to be fully functional by early August.
