Sean Payton, Michael Thomas weigh in on monster deal

The New Orleans Saints and Michael Thomas are holding a press conference just one day after a monster deal was reached with the wide receiver.

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Michael Thomas has reached a five-year, $100 million extension deal with the Saints. This contract makes Thomas the highest paid WR in NFL History.

The Saints and Thomas had been working on a deal for quite some time.

In June, NFL insider Dianna Russini reported Thomas and the Saints were close to a monster deal in which Thomas would surpass the salary of former Newman product Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham makes an average of $18 million a year.

Thomas was drafted in the second round in the 2016 NFL draft out of Ohio State University.

This is the final year for his rookie contract.

Thomas is coming off a career year in which he caught a franchise record 125 passes and 1,405 yards.

For his career, Thomas has had 321 catches for 3,787 yards and 23 touchdowns.
