South Louisiana Giving Day Secures More Than 100 Acadiana Organizations

LAFAYETTE, LA – More than 100 organizations raised $1,454,769 during the second annual South Louisiana (SOLA) Giving Day held on May 9.

There were 2086 donations received from 35 states and the countries of Canada and the Netherlands. This year, we had 598 new donors who participated in giving day compared to last year.

Before the giving day, $770,700 in matching donations were secured to support

More than 65 organizations. A total of  $691,900 were matched by donors. A matching donation is a charitable contribution by private donors that will match the general public’s donations dollar for dollar.

South Louisiana Giving Day awarded $30,000 in prizes to the top performing organizations. The most overall donations award and a $1,500 cash prize winners were Christian Services Center of Abbeville, Bridge Ministry, The Church Academy, and Love Our Schools.

The top performers per parish were The Grand Opera House in Acadia, Le Grand Hoorah in Evangeline, St. Edwards Schools in Iberia, Love Our Schools in Lafayette, Hope for Opelousas in St. Landry, Witness to Love Marriage Prep Renewal Ministry in St. Martin, St. Mary Chapter of the Louisiana Landmarks Society in St. Mary, and the Vermilion Arts Council in Vermilion. Each organization received a $1,000 cash prize.

The organization which won a Power Hour and a $1,000 cash prize were Ragin Cajun Catholics, Hospice Promise Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana, John Paul the Great Academy, Second Harvest Food Bank, Christian Service Center, St. Edwards School, and Miles Perrett Cancer Services.

This year’s cash prize sponsors were Community Foundation of Acadiana, Pecoraro Law, John and Suzanne Bordelon Foundation, The Pinnacle Group, Jones Walker, Don Washington, Mello Joy Coffee, LHC Group, The Haynie Family Foundation, Beverly and Jerry Shea Fund, C H Fenstermaker & Associates, Monica and Tom McCasland, JC Moss Family Charitable Fund, Sam Robertson Real Estate, Iberia Parish Foundation, William C. Schumacher Family Foundation, Home Bank, and the St. Mary Parish Foundation.
