St. Landry Parish Airport Hosting a Summer Fly in & Vintage War Bird Expo.

Opelousas, LA – On Friday, June 26th St. Landry Parish airport will kickoff it’s 2nd Annual Summer Fly In and welcome the famous World War 2, B-17 Bomber along with other vintage war-birds to Opelousas. 

The 2nd Annual Summer Fly In & Vintage War Bird Expo will be a 3 day event, Friday, June 26th – Sunday, June 28th

Of the Airport’s announcement, Airport Manager David Allen said, “This is going to be a community event like nothing we’ve seen before. It’s not every day that a plane of this size and this fame comes to our airport. This Fly In will be a family event with activities for kids, drive in or fly in we want everyone to come enjoy the airport and see these incredible aircraft. The purpose of this event is to showcase our airport, introduce the community to aviation, inspire youth and honor our veterans.”

The airport has partnered with the Commemorative Air Force Gulf Coast wing to bring the aircraft in. Other aircraft will be on display and further details announced soon. 

The event will feature vintage aircraft, airplane rides, airplane tours, food trucks, classic cars, RC airplanes, live music and activities for the kids.
