A Lafayette man is in jail, arrested after a video of a truck hauling a trailer weaving in and out of traffic on Ambassador Caffery Parkway went viral.
According to a Louisiana State Police spokesman, troopers from Troop I arrested Destin Broussard, 36, of Lafayette for his involvement in a reckless operation incident committed on Ambassador Caffery near Guilbeau Road in Lafayette.
On May 28, troopers were made aware of and viewed a video posted to social media which showed a small car and a silver pickup truck pulling a trailer. The driver of the truck was observed on the video driving recklessly, and committed several traffic violations in a matter of a few seconds. The video also shows the driver of the truck intentionally swerving into the car’s lane forcing the driver of the car to travel into oncoming traffic.
Due to the danger the driver of the truck posed to the motoring public, Troopers investigated the incident. Through investigative means it was determined that Broussard was the driver of the silver pickup truck, and Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for him. Broussard was arrested for reckless operation and aggravated obstruction of a roadway. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Bond is set at $2,500.
