Lafayette, LA (KADN) — The STM girls soccer team pushing to win its 3rd straight state title. The Cougars battle Ben Franklin Thursday afternoon at 4:30pm.
Coach Daniel Underwood is impressed with his ladies coming together to get here. They lost alot of experience off last years team, but they are only one win away from the 3-peat.
“We are focused on this year’s state championship,” Coach Underwood said. “It is really about this crew and the journey that they’ve had. So we look to the past to celebrate it ands great tradition. It helps us understand the standards of the program. However, it is about this crew and what they are going to accomplish.”
“Alot of it is just fine tuning everything we have done all year,” goalie Paityn Gautreaux said. “We’ve all been handed the skills and the opportunities they need to win and we just need to put it all in play.”
The ladies have a friendly rivalry going with the boys team here. The STM boy soccer team takes on Holy Cross in the title game right after them at 7:30pm Thursday. The ladies want to stick around and witness both teams coming home as state champions.
