The heat continues this afternoon as temperatures climb through the 80s to near 90 degrees. Once again, rain chances will be near zero, but one storm may form up with daytime heating. It will be another muggy night. A light breeze will help keep the air moving. Lows will fall to the mid 70s overnight.
Today: Hot and humid. A stray storm is possible. High: 89°
Tonight: Warm and muggy. Low: 73°
Saturday: Isolated storms develop in the afternoon. High: 88°
Sunday: Hit/miss storms. Otherwise hot. High: 87°
We’ll have another hot and humid day Saturday with highs near 90 before a much wetter pattern arrives Sunday. A weak trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere will just hang around the area most of next week. With this, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move through Acadiana. Highs will come down to the mid 80s instead of upper 80s. The main concern here is that we could see multiple rounds of heavy rain that could saturate the soil and cause flooding concerns. There will be plenty of dry periods, but storms will be slow-moving and could produce a lot of rain in a short period of time. We’ll be watching this closer next week as models get a better idea of just how much rain will fall.
The tropics look to remain quiet through the next week.
