NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference and the American Cancer Society are once again teaming up on the Cover Your Bases initiative with the conference’s baseball and softball programs during the 2019 season.
Cover Your Bases is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and baseball/softball teams/organizations, at every level across the country. Cover Your Bases impacts local communities and helps save lives by educating fans about key cancer prevention tips around eating healthy, staying active, sun safety and cancer screenings.
Throughout April and into remaining regular-season games in May, Sun Belt teams are creating protection and prevention awareness opportunities outlined at Cancer.org/SunSafety. At the Sun Belt Softball Championship (May 8-11) and Baseball Championship (May 21-26), the conference is slated to reinforce sun smart measures via in-venue giveaways and information, in-game recognitions and live broadcast mentions.
Collaborating in Cover Your Bases, combined with participating in Coaches vs. Cancer’s Suits & Sneakers Week and 3-Point Challenge, is a part of the conference’s partnership with the American Cancer Society in the Sun Belt Fights Cancer (SunBeltFightsCancer.org) initiative.
