Driver Arrested in Deadly Hit and Run Crash in St. Landry Parish

ST. LANDRY PARISH –  After following up on tips and conducting a thorough investigation into the December 7th crash, Troopers were able to determine that Michael S. Thibodeaux of Washington, LA was the suspected driver involved in the deadly hit-and-run crash. An arrest warrant was obtained for Thibodeaux, and on December 8th, 2019 he was placed under arrest and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for LRS 14:100 Hit-and-Run Driving.

Opelousas – Shortly before 10:30 pm on December 7, 2019, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a fatality crash involving three pedestrians on LA 749 near Legion Lane in St. Landry Parish. The crash claimed the life of 42-year-old Kizzy Greene and 41-year-old Angela Broussard, both of Opelousas.

The preliminary investigation revealed Greene, Broussard, and another pedestrian were standing in the northbound lane of LA 749 when they were struck by an unknown northbound vehicle. After striking the three pedestrians, the unknown vehicle continued on and fled the scene.

Green and Broussard both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office. The third victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Impairment is unknown and standard toxicology tests are pending. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call Troop I at (337) 262-5880.
