Teen Dies in Grand Isle Swimming Incident, Two Others Rescued

A weekend outing in Grand Isle proved deadly for one family and police are blaming an undertow for the loss of life. The Grand Isle Police Department says one teenager has died and two other people are recovering after a swimming incident. Our sister station  WDSU  reported officials received a call around 5:45 p.m. Sunday of three swimmers in distress. Members of the Grand Isle Police and Fire Department rescued a 15-year-old and another person. They were both taken to local hospitals. Grand Isle Police Chief Lane Landry says the body of a 17-year-old was later found. Authorities believe the three of them were caught in an undertow, but the incident is still under investigation.
