The Show Must Go on for Lafayette Ballet Theatre and Other Facilities of the Arts During the Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 Pandemic started two weeks before Lafayette Ballet Theatre was set to take the stage to perform their latest ballet, ‘Cinderella’, creating a large financial toll on the company.

“There were so many expenses. Costumes, scenery, lights for the guest artists, rehearsal fees for the local artists, they had already been paid out and without a performance and ticket sales, there is no way to recoup those costs. Lafayette Ballet Theatre was left with about a $70,000 debt.” said Mitzi Heath, Artistic Director for Lafayette Ballet Theatre.

Mitzi Heath, from the Lafayette Ballet Theatre, stopped by News15 at noon virtually to chat about the impact the pandemic has had on them and how people can support the arts during this unprecedented time.
