In the early morning hours of Saturday May 20, 2017, Officers with the Youngsville Police Department were called to the 100 block of Piper Crest Lane in reference to an Armed Robbery.
Officers arrived and learned that three teenage females, after a night out in downtown Lafayette, called UBER for a ride home. Upon arriving at their residence and after exiting the Vehicle, the females were approached by a black male brandishing a handgun, demanding them to lay on the ground, ordering them to give him their purses and cellphones.
The UBER driver apparently unnoticed while sitting in his vehicle, dialed 911 to report the crime in progress, giving a description of the vehicle and suspect. Detectives working with that information and after a thorough investigation, were able to develop a suspect who was identified as Herbert Lee Prejean, Jr., a Black Male, 22 years of age, who resides in the 1000 block of Jack Dwyer Drive, in St. Martinsville, La..
The suspect was positively identified by the victims in a photographic lineup. Warrants were obtained, and the suspect was taken into custody today at 1:00 p.m., where he was transported and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional center.
