Monday, June 24, 2019 Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of North Soileau and West Huey P. Long. Upon arrival Officers learned that there had been an altercation between a man and three of his relatives.
According to the report one male suspect ran over the foot of one of the other men and a fight began. One person threw multiple punches, another grabbed a bat and assaulted the driver of the vehicle and a third person grabbed a gun. The male driver fled the scene in the vehicle and hit another vehicle before finally hitting a tree. The reports also stated that there were multiple shots fired between the parties.
All four were brought in for questioning and three have been released. The investigation is ongoing and Chief Neal Lartigue stated that the three other participants in the altercation will be facing charges as well.
Arrested was Kenneth Ashley Sr. 48 of 628 West Huey P. Long Street in Ville Platte was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentality, disturbing the peace, careless operation, no insurance, and driving under suspension. Ashley was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and is being transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $ 110,000.00 bond.
