Ville Platte Police Officer Arrested on Several Charges

According to Chief Randy Fontenot of the Eunice Police Department, over the Memorial Day weekend an arrest was made of a Ville Platte Police Officer, Connor Atchison. An officer observed a vehicle being driven with dark tinted windows with the windows down. The officer noticed the driver ,Atchison, wasn’t wearing a seat belt so a traffic stop was conducted. When asked to present his license and registration, Connor Atchison presented his commission card with the Ville Platte Police Department. The officer conducting the stop noticed the smell of marijuana and when asked about it Atchison stated “he just smoked some and it helps him relax”. Upon search of the vehicle a scale, grinder, marijuana residue and prescription pills with an obliterated label where found. Atchison said he used the pills as sleep medication.

Connor Atchison was arrested and booked into jail for:

  • Window tint violation
  • Seat-belt violation
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a prescription bottle with an obliterated label
  • Possession of a legend drug without prescription
