Water Hydrant Testing for City of Rayne

“Citywide Hydrant Testing” which is mandated yearly (2nd round Testing required) will take place on Friday and Saturday or until completed throughout the City of Rayne. When these test occur some residents will notice cloudy, or water tinting of the lime residue that stays dormant in the mainline pipes until a surge or heavy flow in the system occurs. The water department will be aware of the added water use and beginning Friday will keep their storage system at full capacity to assure citizens have adequate water supply and that the Fire Department will have the needed volume for any unsuspected fires within the city. Fire Chief Allan “Noochie” says, “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but it is a necessary process to assure our city maintains the current Fire Rating or better. There should be NO NEED to call the water plant to report these issues as our citizens should all realize it has to go through the process before it clears and is back to normal.”

If there are any other needs for services please feel free to call City of Rayne Water Plant and Dispatch (337)334-6631 (24 Hours a day)  .
