Metairie, LA (KADN) Zion Williamson is scheduled to make his NBA debut Wednesday night at 8:30pm against the San Antonio Spurs. He missed the first 44 games of the season with a knee injury. Zion still excited to get off to a positive start to his NBA career. His mom told him that the right knee meniscus tear a blessing in disguise because it gave him a chance to learn his body. Zion picked up some NBA experience in the preseason, but there’s only one NBA Debut.
“It’s just basketball, it is what I do and I’ve been doing it since I was four,” Zion said.
Zion said he loves New Orleans so far and the city has embraced him. Still, it was difficult to not play and continue to work hard in rehab.
“There’s a lot of times when I wanted to punch a wall or kick chairs because it’s frustrating,” Williamson said. “To not be able to move your body the way you want to, not to make any athletic movements; I mean, it’s tough. Especially because I’m 19 and I haven’t even played my first NBA game. It was tough but I battled through it.”
